Mr Ong Ming Teck, Chief Executive Officer, said at the event that “The success of Campu Bank in the Kingdom of Cambodia for 30 years did not come by chance, but through the visionary leadership of Public Bank Group Founder, Chairman Emeritus, Director and Adviser, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow, the board and management, and contributions and team work from all levels of staff. Campu Bank’s impeccable performance of unbroken profitability through good and bad times speak volume of the strong management, governance and support from its parent bank, Public Bank Berhad, the largest non-government-linked company listed on the Bursa Malaysia with market capitalization of USD19.4 billion and third largest commercial bank in Malaysia as at end of 2021. Tan Sri Teh’s visionary foresight, spirit and ethics upheld for the past 55 years since Public Bank’s inception in 1966 will continue to guide Campu Bank in navigating and conquering the COVID-19 endemic challenges with strong fundamentals. Though the year 2020 and 2021 were marked with uncertainties due to the impact of COVID-19, the Cambodian government under the strong leadership of the Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has successfully implemented a number of sound and effective containment measures to navigate the country’s economy out of turbulence and towards a stronger recovery path. Towards nation building, Campu Bank remained steadfast and committed in embracing financial inclusion to reach out to the unbankable segment, embedding environmental, social and governance considerations in our business and operations, and providing assistance to customers who faced financial constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Ong also expressed the Bank’s gratitude to His Excellency Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, the regulators, as well as valued and loyal customers for their continuing support, trust and confidence towards Campu Bank over the years
